Checking your grant status
A SASSA status check needs your 13-digit South African ID number and the cellphone number linked to your application: SRD checks run on srd.sassa.gov.za, and other grants run on services.sassa.gov.za. For SRD grants, WhatsApp (082 046 8553) and USSD (*134*7737#) also work. You may see outcomes such as approved, still in progress (pending), not approved, or a request for extra identity verification (eKYC). How payment dates are usually set
SASSA pays grants in three batches each month: first Older Persons, second Disability, and third Children's grants, which include Child Support (R580 per month), Foster Child (R1,290), and Care Dependency (R2,400) in the 2026/2027 cycle. The SRD (R370) grant is paid in a separate batch later in the month and can arrive on different days depending on your bank details and verification status.
